Humberside Airport Parking Guide
Parking at Humberside Airport is very straightforward; all parking is available on-airport so there is no need for transfers; the terminal building is located just a short 3-minute walk away.
How to choose the cheapest Humberside Airport Parking?
Used to just rocking up to official Humberside Airport parking on the day and paying as you enter? Perfectly understandable as you just want to relax and enjoy your holiday; however, by using Airport Parking Shop and a tiny bit of planning, you can save money and perhaps find an option better suited to you.
A comparison: Turning up at Car Park 1 (Short Stay / Pick-up & Drop-off) is free for the first 15 minutes, then £4.50 up to 1 hour, £8.50 up to 2 hours, scaling to £30 for up to 24 hours (drive-up tariff). Our lowest price last week was £84.00 for a 7-day stay.
Tempted? Then, whether it is the nearest car park or the cheapest, we give you the answers below in just three bite-sized chunks.
1 – Understand Your Parking Type Options (and what's usually cheapest)
Quick Insights
Park & Ride is usually the cheapest (you park further away and take a bus), while Short Stay, right by the terminal, is the most expensive.
A Deeper Dive
(but don’t worry you will be back to the surface in no time)
- Short Stay (or Multi-Storey) — usually very near to the terminal and just a few minutes’ walk to departures.
- Long Stay (or Park & Ride) — these two names exist because Long Stay is more often used for official airport car parks, while Park & Ride is used by third-party providers. What they have in common is that they usually require a shuttle bus or a longish walk of 10+ minutes.
- Meet & Greet — you leave your car and keys near the terminal; it’s parked for you in a secure compound.
If you’re travelling with the family, you may find the Meet & Greet service is best suited to you; if you’re not carrying huge amounts of luggage then a cheaper Park & Ride may be the best option for you.
Humberside Car Park Specifics
Humberside’s car parks are on-airport and walkable: Car Park 1 is the Short Stay / Pick-up & Drop-off opposite the terminal; Car Parks 2, 3 and 4 serve Long Stay. Walking routes are provided from every car park, with typical walks of about 3–5 minutes (a touch further as the car park number increases). There isn’t a regular off-airport Park & Ride scene here, and Meet & Greet isn’t generally sold.
Walkable (official)
- Car Park 1 — Short Stay / Pick-up & Drop-off — opposite the terminal; walk ~1–2 minutes; 15 minutes free, then drive-up charges apply.
- Car Park 2 — Long Stay — closest Long Stay; walk ~3–5 minutes; keep your keys.
- Car Park 3 — Long Stay — mid-distance Long Stay; walk ~4–6 minutes; keep your keys.
- Car Park 4 — Long Stay — furthest Long Stay (often the keenest pre-book price); walk ~5–7 minutes; keep your keys.
Park & Ride (official/third-party)
- No routine third-party Park & Ride to the terminal — the on-airport Long Stay car parks are designed to be walkable.
Meet & Greet
- Not generally offered as a parking product at Humberside.
Which parking type is cheapest?
Expect to pay more for convenience. Car Park 1 (Short Stay) is closest and has the highest drive-up day rate (handy for short stops, less so for a week). For trips of several days, pre-booking Long Stay (Car Parks 2–4) usually offers the best value while keeping walks to roughly 3–7 minutes.
Using Airport Parking Shop
Tip: By default, Airport Parking Shop lists prices from low to high irrespective of the parking type, which you can see in the blue box. If you are sure what kind of parking type you want, simply hit the Filter Results option above the results and then select just what you want under Parking Options on the left.
2 – Plan to Book in Advance
Quick Insight
Start looking at least two weeks in advance.
The Quick Dive-Down Part
Turning up and paying at the barrier is the most expensive way to park (and you might not find a space). Car Park 1 (Short Stay) drive-up is free for 15 minutes, then from £4.50 up to 1 hour, £8.50 up to 2 hours, and £30 for up to 24 hours. Our lowest price last week was £84.00 for a 7-day stay. You can save substantially by booking Long Stay in advance; aim for at least two weeks ahead.
Tip: Prices go up due to availability (or lack of), so at busier times of the year, like school and national holidays, you may want to start looking at prices even earlier.
3 – Compare Parking Features to Find the Best Value
Once you’ve decided on a parking type, compare what they offer to get the right balance of price and convenience:
- Transfer time & frequency (all official car parks are walkable; no shuttle required)
- Distance from terminal (CP1 ~1–2 minutes; CP2 ~3–5; CP3 ~4–6; CP4 ~5–7)
- Keys (keep vs. leave — official Long Stay is keep your keys)
- Opening hours (official car parks operate 24/7)
- Security & reviews (ANPR, CCTV; Park Mark on official listings via partners)
- Accessibility (Blue Badge bays in official car parks; check bay locations on arrival)
- Total price, not headline (Short Stay drive-up escalates fast vs. pre-booked Long Stay weekly rates)
Compare Parking Options

Humberside Area Guide
The Lincolnshire countryside surrounding Humberside Airport is packed with exciting attractions and things to do. The airport is actually sandwiched between two traditional football-and-steel-works towns, Grimsby and Scunthorpe. The People's Park is a popular Victorian park and gardens in Grimsby which has attractive floral displays and a heart-shaped lake. It also has three temperate glasshouses and some exotic varieties of birds in its aviary. There is a bowling green and croquet lawn as well as a safe children's play area.
The fascinating remains of the Roman-British villa, at Winterton near Scunthorpe, are just to the west of what was a main Roman road between Lincoln and York. Archaeological investigations have uncovered various artefacts including structural evidence, 2nd-century pottery, and evidence of late-Roman period bronze-working.
Also worth visiting is Pleasure Island theme park in Cleethorpes, which caters for all ages, with a variety of rides and attractions ranging from the traditional to the latest white-knuckle variety.
About Humberside Airport
Introduction to Humberside
Humberside Airport is a small, single-terminal airport at Kirmington in North Lincolnshire, serving Lincolnshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull. It handles a relatively modest number of passengers each year compared with the big regional hubs, which usually makes the experience fairly calm and straightforward. Check-in, security and departures are all in the same compact building and most car parks are within a short walk of the terminal. As a rough guide, most airlines suggest you arrive around 1½–2 hours before departure, and if you’re using Long Stay or off-airport options it’s sensible to allow extra time to park and walk over (or take a quick shuttle if provided).
1. How to get to Humberside Airport?
You’ve basically got four main ways to reach Humberside Airport:
Bus & coach
- Local / regional buses – Services link the airport with surrounding villages and towns such as Scunthorpe and along the A18/A180 corridor, usually on an hourly or two-hourly basis. One such route calls at Kirmington and stops by the airport, which is handy if you live locally but less so if you’re coming from further afield.
- Via nearby hubs – Longer-distance coach services typically serve Grimsby, Hull or Scunthorpe rather than the airport itself. From there you’d need to connect by local bus or taxi to complete the journey.
Train + bus / taxi
- There’s no rail station at the terminal. The nearest mainline stop is Barnetby (on services between Cleethorpes, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Doncaster and beyond), about 2½ miles from the airport.
- From Barnetby you can take a short taxi ride or walk to a nearby bus stop on the local route serving Kirmington and the airport. Services are not especially frequent, so this tends to work best if you’re happy to plan around the timetable.
Car
- Humberside Airport sits between Scunthorpe and Grimsby, just a few miles from the M180 / A180 / A15 interchange and close to the A18. That gives good road access from Hull, Grimsby, Scunthorpe and much of Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire; driving times from those centres are typically around 20–35 minutes in normal traffic.
-
On-airport parking is straightforward:
- Car Park 1 (Short Stay) is directly opposite the terminal, about 75 metres away, and even offers a short free period for quick drop-offs and pick-ups.
- Car Parks 2, 3 and 4 (Long Stay) are official on-airport car parks within easy walking distance (around 2–3 minutes) of the terminal, so there’s usually no need for a shuttle bus.
- Independent providers may offer additional Park & Ride–style options nearby.
Taxi / private hire
- Because Humberside is in a fairly rural location, taxis and pre-booked private transfers are popular, especially if public transport timings don’t work. There’s a taxi rank and pick-up/drop-off area outside the terminal, and pre-booked services can collect you from home or a local rail/bus station. For short journeys or groups of 3–4 people, the total cost can be comparable to a week’s parking; for longer distances, driving and parking is often cheaper overall.
2. Choosing the right transport for you?
Whether you choose public transport, to drive, or to take a taxi will come down to a mix of cost, convenience and how you feel about risk and faff. Only you can balance those, and it may change every time you fly – but it’s worth thinking about a few things:
Do a price comparison
You might assume driving and parking is always the most expensive option – but that’s not always true. There are secure, trusted official and third-party car parks at Humberside that can be very competitive if you book in advance. Do your due diligence and check bus, train and taxi prices, but then run a quick search above – it takes less than a minute and you may be pleasantly surprised.
Delays
Think about what happens if your flight is delayed.
- With parking, you may pay an extra hour or day if you overstay.
- With trains, buses and coaches, if you miss your booked departure and don’t have a flexible ticket, you’re often buying a completely new ticket at walk-up prices – and there might not be another service for a while, or it may already be full.
Your car, on the other hand, is always “parked and waiting” when you land.
- How close is your flight to the time of your last bus, train or coach connection? If a one-hour delay means you miss the last service and end up paying for an expensive taxi home, would driving and parking have been cheaper and less stressful overall?
Total costs
- There may be a cheap bus or rail fare, but how much are you spending on taxis at either end, especially if you’re travelling at awkward times or with luggage/kids?
- How much longer does it take on public transport? If you have to take extra time off work just to make it work, then add that to the bill.
Stress & peace of mind
Are you going to stay awake all night worrying whether your early-morning taxi will arrive? Similarly, whether you’ll make all your connections on time?
If so, driving yourself might be the more relaxed option.
Safety
If you’ve got a long drive after a long flight – or you’d like a couple of drinks on board – public transport or an overnight hotel with parking might be the safer choice.
Convenience & luggage
How much lugging is involved? With public transport you may be wrestling multiple cases through small rural stations, onto buses and trains, and up and down steps. With parking, you load the car once and unload once at the terminal or car park. For families, groups or anyone with mobility issues, that simplicity can be worth paying for.
Total time
At Airport Parking Shop, we like a bargain as much as the next person – that’s why we started the site – but time matters too. Will public transport add an extra hour or two to your journey and how is that going to make you feel?
Where will you be dropped off?
For this one, taxis and cars tend to win – Humberside’s on-airport car parks are all close to the terminal, and taxis can drop you right outside. If you’re driving you can get terminal-close parking in Short Stay or the nearer Long Stay car parks; if you opt for a cheaper Park & Ride-style option, factor in a short walk or a quick shuttle.

The car park area was adequate and easy to get to.
I booked online but the paperwork did not denote which car park was booked – this is a shortfall, which should be addressed.
I paid online and received the ticket as detailed within the booking document; however, the booking document required that you “validate” your ticket before returning to the car. I messed about outside in the rain and cold trying to find an office or some one to validate with. I lined up in the queue for another 15 minutes put in my ticket in the machine and was told to go back inside the airport to the INFORMATION DESK!!!!
Why is this not detailed on the information!!!
