Bournemouth Airport Parking Guide
Book your parking at Bournemouth Airport in advance to secure the cheapest deals for your next trip. You could save up to 70% off the gate price by comparing the different parking options available, from the premium Car Park 1 to the budget-friendly Car Park 2.
How to choose the cheapest Bournemouth Airport Parking?
Used to just rocking up to official Bournemouth Airport parking on the day and paying as you enter? Perfectly understandable as you just want to relax and enjoy your holiday; however, by using Airport Parking Shop and a tiny bit of planning, you can save money and perhaps find an option better suited to you.
A comparison: Turning up at Car Park 2 (on-airport) is £40.00 for 12–24 hours with published roll-up bands rising to £150 for 5 days and then £30 for each additional 24 hours (so ~£210 for 7 days). Our lowest price last week was £93.31 for a 7-day stay.
Tempted? Then, whether it is the nearest car park or the cheapest, we give you the answers below in just three bite-sized chunks.
1 – Understand Your Parking Type Options (and what's usually cheapest)
Quick Insights
Park & Ride is usually the cheapest (you park further away and take a bus), while Short Stay, right by the terminal, is the most expensive.
A Deeper Dive
(but don’t worry you will be back to the surface in no time)
- Short Stay (or Multi-Storey) — usually very near to the terminal and just a few minutes’ walk to departures.
- Long Stay (or Park & Ride) — these two names exist because Long Stay is more often used for official airport car parks, while Park & Ride is used by third-party providers. What they have in common is that they usually require a shuttle bus or a longish walk of 10+ minutes.
- Meet & Greet — you leave your car and keys near the terminal; it’s parked for you in a secure compound.
If you’re travelling with the family, you may find the Meet & Greet service is best suited to you; if you’re not carrying huge amounts of luggage then a cheaper Park & Ride may be the best option for you.
Bournemouth Car-park Specifics
Bournemouth’s official options are all on-airport and walkable. Premium Car Park 1 sits opposite Departures, Car Park 2 is the main on-airport car park, and Car Park 3 is signed for Passenger Pick Up and short-stay stops. Typical walking times: CP1 about 1–3 minutes, CP2 about 3–10 minutes, CP3 about 1–4 minutes. There is also a third-party Park & Ride at Parley Lane Parking (hotel/independent-style car park with shuttle).
Walkable (official)
- Premium Car Park 1 — opposite the terminal; walk ~1–3 minutes; pre-book only for parking (also used for Express Pick Up up to 30 minutes).
- Car Park 2 — on-airport; walk ~3–10 minutes; turn-up available; Park Mark; ANPR entry.
- Car Park 3 — on-airport; walk ~1–4 minutes; Passenger Pick Up / short-stay; time-limited charges apply; not suitable for long-stay parking.
Park & Ride (official/third-party)
- Parley Lane Parking – Park & Ride (third-party) — independent car park with shuttle service 08:00–18:00 (on request). Outside these hours, drop passengers at the terminal first, then park; keep your keys (self-park). Transfer is a short shuttle to the terminal.
Meet & Greet
- Not generally offered at Bournemouth as a regular product; most parking is walkable on-airport.
Which parking type is cheapest?
Expect to pay more for convenience. Premium Car Park 1 (closest) is typically the most expensive when sold as a parking product; Car Park 2 usually offers better value and is still a short walk. Car Park 3 is ideal for pick up/very short stays rather than longer trips. The third-party Parley Lane Park & Ride can be competitive for longer trips if the shuttle times suit your flight schedule.
Using Airport Parking Shop
Tip: By default, Airport Parking Shop lists prices from low to high irrespective of the parking type, which you can see in the blue box. If you are sure what kind of parking type you want, simply hit the Filter Results option above the results and then select just what you want under Parking Options on the left.
2 – Plan to Book in Advance
Quick Insight
Start looking at least two weeks in advance.
The Quick Dive-Down Part
Turning up and paying at the barrier is the most expensive way to park (and you might not find a space). Car Park 2 lists £40 for 12–24 hours, £150 for 5 days, then £30 per additional 24 hours (≈ £210 for a 7-day stay). Our lowest price last week was £93.31 for a 7-day stay. You can save substantially by booking in advance; aim for at least two weeks ahead.
Tip: Prices go up due to availability (or lack of), so at busier times of the year, like school and national holidays, you may want to start looking at prices even earlier.
3 – Compare Parking Features to Find the Best Value
Once you’ve decided on a parking type, compare what they offer to get the right balance of price and convenience:
- Transfer time & frequency (walk minutes at Bournemouth; third-party shuttle typically on request 08:00–18:00)
- Distance from terminal (CP1 ~1–3 minutes; CP2 ~3–10 minutes; CP3 ~1–4 minutes)
- Keys (keep vs. leave — official: keep; third-party P&R: usually keep)
- Opening hours (official car parks operate 24/7; Park Mark, ANPR and CCTV on site)
- Security & reviews (Park Mark, CCTV, patrols; check recent ratings)
- Accessibility (Blue Badge bays in CP1/CP2/CP3; assistance points available)
- Total price, not headline (include any “per additional 24 hours £30” and any shuttle fee/time trade-off)
Compare Parking Options
| Car park | Transfer | Shuttle frequency | Keep keys? | Good to know |

About Bournemouth Airport
Introduction to Bournemouth
Bournemouth Airport is a small, single-terminal airport at Hurn, about 5–7 miles from Bournemouth and Christchurch. It handles just under a million passengers a year, mostly leisure routes with Ryanair, TUI and easyJet. The terminal is compact and easy to navigate; check-in generally opens 2–3 hours before departure, and the airport recommends you arrive at least 2 hours before your flight, even if you’ve checked in online. Most official car parks are within a short walk of the terminal (often 2–5 minutes), with a designated pick-up car park (Car Park 3) less than a 2-minute walk away.
1. How to get to Bournemouth Airport?
You’ve got four main options for getting to Bournemouth Airport:
Bus & coach
- Local bus (737 and others) – Local services link the airport with Bournemouth town centre, the railway station and nearby areas like Christchurch and Poole. Frequencies vary by route and time of day, so check timetables if you’re travelling early or late.
- Long-distance coach + local bus – National coach operators typically serve Bournemouth or Poole town centres rather than the airport itself. From there, you connect to a local bus or taxi for the final leg.
Train + bus
- There’s no rail station at the airport. The nearest mainline station is Bournemouth, with frequent services from London and other major towns.
- From Bournemouth station, you can take a local bus or taxi to the airport. The journey is usually 15–20 minutes in normal traffic.
Car
- Bournemouth Airport is just off the B3073, close to the A338, north-east of Bournemouth.
- There’s a choice of official car parks, including short-stay, long-stay and a dedicated pick-up car park close to Arrivals. All are signposted as you approach the terminal, and pre-booking usually gets you the best price.
Taxi / private hire
- Local taxi and private-hire firms serve the airport, with ranks or meeting points just outside the terminal. For short local trips or groups of 3–4, a taxi can sometimes work out similar in price to a week’s parking; for longer distances, the cost can quickly overtake driving and parking, especially in peak periods.
2. Choosing the right transport for you?
Whether you choose public transport, to drive, or to take a taxi will come down to a mix of cost, convenience and how you feel about risk and faff. Only you can balance those, and it may change every time you fly – but it’s worth thinking about a few things:
Do a price comparison
You might assume driving and parking is always the most expensive option – but that’s not always true. There are secure, trusted on-airport and third-party car parks around Bournemouth that can be very competitive if you book in advance. Do your due diligence and check train, bus and taxi prices, but then run a quick search above – it takes less than a minute and you may be pleasantly surprised.
Delays
Think about what happens if your flight is delayed.
- With parking, you may pay an extra hour or day if you overstay.
- With buses and coaches, if you miss your booked departure and don’t have a flexible ticket, you’re often buying a completely new ticket at walk-up prices – and there might not be another service for a while, especially late at night.
Your car, on the other hand, is always “parked and waiting” when you land.
- How close is your flight to the time of your last bus or train connection? If a one-hour delay means you miss the last service and end up paying for an expensive taxi home, would driving and parking have been cheaper and less stressful overall?
Total costs
- There may be a cheap coach or bus fare, but how much are you spending on taxis to and from the coach stop or station, especially if you’re travelling at awkward times or with luggage/kids?
- How much longer does it take on public transport? If you have to take extra time off work just to make it work, then add that to the “real” cost.
Stress & peace of mind
Are you going to stay awake all night worrying whether your 4am taxi will arrive, or whether you’ll make every connection?
If so, driving yourself and parking might actually be the more relaxed option.
Safety
If you’ve got a long drive after a long flight – or you’d like a couple of drinks on board – public transport or an overnight hotel with parking might be the safer choice.
Convenience & luggage
How much lugging is involved? With public transport, you may be wrestling multiple cases through town centres, onto buses and up and down stairs. With parking, you load the car once and unload once at the terminal or shuttle stop. For families, groups or anyone with mobility issues, that simplicity can be worth paying for.
Total time
At Airport Parking Shop, we like a bargain as much as the next person – that’s why we started the site – but time matters too. Will public transport add an extra hour or two to your journey and how is that going to make you feel?
Where will you be dropped off?
Here, public transport and taxis often win, as they can usually drop you near the terminal entrance. If you’re driving, you can get a similarly short walk if you choose the terminal-side short-stay/premium options; if you go for long-stay or Park & Ride-style options, expect a short walk or shuttle ride instead.
Which kind of parking is right for me?
So, you’ve decided to park at or near Bournemouth Airport – or at least want to understand the options before you commit. Good news: we’ve all the answers in the Parking Options tab to the left.
Here’s what you’ll find there – and how it helps you decide:
-
Short-stay vs Long-stay vs “pick-up” style parking
- Rough price differences and when each makes sense (e.g. a day trip vs a fortnight in the sun).
-
How far in advance to book to get the lowest prices
- Typical patterns for Bournemouth – how prices tend to move if you book a day before vs a week or a month before departure.
-
Official vs third-party car parks
- What they both mean and which one is usually cheaper.
-
Key features behind the headline price
- Walking distance vs shuttle time.
- Whether you keep your keys or hand them in.
- Height limits, Blue Badge bays and security features (CCTV, patrols, lighting) that can make a “cheap” price either a bargain or a false economy.
-
Personalised feature comparison tables
- For Bournemouth, we show the main car parks side by side, with all their key features, so you can see what you’re actually getting for your money.
-
More pricing detail
- Average price comparisons for short stays vs longer trips.
- How costs change if you book 1 day, 1 week or 1 month in advance.
- Official vs third-party averages, so you can spot when an “official” car park is good value and when an independent option wins.

Drive up prices will always be much more expensive so we'd suggest you pre-book your parking online. The drive up cost of Short Stay parking at Bournemouth Airport is £29 a day, but booking a week of Long Stay parking online could be £45.
You can park up in the Short Stay car park for £3 for 30 minutes to wave off your loved ones. If you need longer, prices increase to £6.50 for an hour and £9 for 2 hours. Prices known to be correct as of December 2020.
Not currently but there are plans to have one! It was due to open in 2019 and plans were pushed back to 2020. However, with the year we've had, there's still no news on its opening date.
That will depend on the type of parking you've booked. If you opted for a Flexible option, then yes, you most likely can. Be sure to contact your parking provider for clarification as some of the 'Saver" options will mean they are non refundable. When you run a quote above, look out for the green Flexible tags to be sure.

Very expensive - I paid more for 5 days parking than I did for my return flight to Vienna!! On the positive side there was lots of parking and it’s all close to the terminals. I pre-booked what I thought was car park 2 and entered easily with vehicle recognition. When we left there was a holdup as the exit machine was requesting a ticket!! It was dealt with via the lady ‘in the machine’ who checked and I had booked car park 3 and used the wrong car park. She let us out anyway probably as there was a long queue behind!!
