Edinburgh Plane Parking
Compare and pre-book this car park at Edinburgh airport to save up to 60% off gate prices.
Edinburgh Plane Parking is the airport’s official budget car park, with a free shuttle taking around ten minutes to the terminal. Park the car yourself, keep your keys and take the bus from one of the two stops inside the car park. Services run approximately every 18 minutes.
The main advantage is combining official airport parking with a lower price than the airport’s closer car parks. The trade-off is allowing time for both the bus journey and the wait for the next service.
Why choose Plane Parking?
- Keep your keys: the car remains where you parked it.
- Official budget parking: Edinburgh Airport’s lower-priced park-and-ride option.
- Free shuttle: buses take around ten minutes and run approximately every 18 minutes.
- Easy entry: ANPR recognises your registration and issues an exit ticket.
- Electric charging: 20 7kW charging points are available.
- 24-hour security: CCTV, perimeter fencing, patrols and car park attendants protect the site.
How does Plane Parking compare with Long Stay?
Both are official self-parking options where you keep your keys. Plane Parking provides a shuttle to the terminal, while Long Stay has no bus and requires a 10–12-minute walk.
Choose Plane Parking if you would rather take a bus than walk with your luggage. Choose Long Stay if you prefer to avoid waiting for a shuttle and are comfortable walking to the terminal.
How does Plane Parking compare with Mid Stay?
Both are official self-parking products where the car remains in the space you choose. Plane Parking requires a ten-minute bus journey, while Mid Stay is approximately a five-minute walk from the terminal.
Plane Parking is usually the stronger budget choice for a longer trip. Mid Stay offers a quicker route to check-in when convenience justifies the higher price.
How does Plane Parking compare with Low Cost?
Both use shuttle buses and have a similar overall transfer time. At Plane Parking, you find a space and keep your keys. At Low Cost, you leave your keys at reception and staff park the vehicle for you.
Choose Plane Parking for official airport parking and control over where the car is left. Choose Low Cost if it offers the better price and you prefer staff to handle the parking.
Important things to know
Enter the correct vehicle registration when booking so the ANPR system can recognise the car. Keep the ticket issued at the entrance because you may need it to exit. Cars, motorbikes and vans are accepted, and there is no height restriction. Passengers requiring mobility assistance should arrange this with Edinburgh Airport before travelling.
Security
The car park is fully secure with 24-hour car park attendants, frequent patrols, security fencing, and comprehensive CCTV coverage. It has been awarded Park Mark, Safer Parking Award.
Directions
Go along Eastfield Road towards the roundabout at the Moxy and DoubleTree by Hilton. Take the third exit, cross the tram tracks, and then take the third exit at the next roundabout.
Drive past the Long Stay car park and continue along the road, following the signs for Plane Parking. Once you arrive drive up to the car park barrier.
If you've booked the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system will recognise your plate and you'll be given a ticket before the barrier lifts. Keep your ticket safe as you'll need it on exit.
Arrival procedure
Drive up to the barriers and the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system will read your vehicle registration number and automatically issue you with a ticket. The ticket will show your vehicle registration number, and this will correspond to the booking details we have for you on our system.
Once parked, please make your way to one of the two Plane Parking bus stops located within the car park.
Disabled facilities
Customers who require PRM assistance should contact airport services for assistance on arrival day.

It is a self-park so you will be able to keep your keys.
Our flights were cancelled due to the Covid-19 crisis but Plane Parking stuck rigidly to their no refund, no change policy and refused to allow us to move our reservation to a future date. I won’t forget about this when I come to rebook.

My holiday to Austria was cancelled at short notice. I contacted Plane Parking who gave me an email address for me to request a credit note. The person tried to divert me on to someone else...
previously I have had some great experience at Plane Parking including value for money but this far it’s not been one of them. I’m hoping that you may assist in recovering the situation.

Our flight was cancelled due to Covid-19. We had booked 3 weeks car parking through FHR. We notified them we would not be able to proceed with the booking and requested a credit against a future booking. FHR refused to offer a credit as said they had already paid Edinburgh airport/ Plane Parking and they were not refunding FHR. I emailed Edinburgh airport and was told FHR were responsible for our booking and to follow up with them. Edinburgh airport's website stated under Covid-19, they were offering a credit note that can be used on a new booking. FHR also stated on their automatic email that they can hold a credit for the full amount of the booking, yet I am still told they cannot offer a credit. FHR have taken our money, offered no service........is this company interested in looking after it's customers - clearly not!
