EDI Parking Long Stay
“ No problems with this car park. Close to airport, therefore transfer times are very quick. No problems.” - Mr A Robertson
EDI Long Stay is Edinburgh Airport’s official self-parking option: park the car, keep your keys and walk to the terminal in around 10–12 minutes. There is no shuttle bus, so allow enough time for the walk and perhaps bring a brolly.
It is designed for trips of four days or more and is usually cheaper than the airport’s closer Mid Stay, Terminal and Multi-Storey car parks. Your car remains in the space you choose, and the car park is protected by 24-hour security.
Why choose Edinburgh Airport Long Stay?
- Official airport parking: park on Edinburgh Airport grounds rather than at a third-party site.
- Keep your keys: your car stays in the bay you choose while you are away.
- Usually cheaper than the closer official car parks: a sensible option when price matters more than avoiding a walk.
- No waiting for a shuttle: leave the car and head straight towards the terminal.
- 24-hour security: suitable for early departures and late arrivals.
- Blue Badge spaces available: wider spaces and assistance call points are provided.
How does Long Stay compare with Mid Stay?
Both are official self-parking options where you keep your keys and walk to the terminal. Mid Stay cuts the walk to around five minutes, while Long Stay takes approximately 10–12 minutes.
Mid Stay is worth considering when it costs only a little more, particularly if you have heavy luggage or simply object to beginning a holiday with a brisk constitutional. Long Stay is the better choice when the saving matters more than the additional five to seven minutes on foot.
How does Long Stay compare with Plane Parking?
Plane Parking is Edinburgh Airport’s official budget park-and-ride option. It may be cheaper than Long Stay and provides a free shuttle taking around ten minutes, with buses currently running approximately every 18 minutes.
Long Stay avoids waiting for and loading luggage onto a bus, but replaces it with a 10–12 minute walk. Choose Plane Parking if you would rather sit on a shuttle; choose Long Stay if you prefer to set off for the terminal under your own steam. Edinburgh weather may be asked to cast the deciding vote.
How does Long Stay compare with Terminal Parking?
Terminal Parking is only around a two-minute walk from the terminal, compared with 10–12 minutes from Long Stay. Both let you park your own car and keep your keys.
The difference is largely price versus proximity. Terminal Parking is the easier option for families, heavy luggage and passengers who want the shortest possible route. Long Stay is for travellers prepared to walk farther rather than pay the terminal-side premium.
Important things to know
There is no shuttle bus between Long Stay and the terminal. Use the dedicated walking route at the north end of the car park and allow around 10–12 minutes. The car park has a height restriction of 2.2 metres, no electric vehicle charging points and a current overstay charge of £20 per additional day.
On entry, the automatic number-plate recognition system should identify your booking and issue a ticket. Keep the ticket safe because you will need it when leaving. Take note of your parking zone before walking to the terminal; after a week away, every row of cars has a remarkable ability to look exactly the same.
Directions
The Long Stay Car park is located on-site. Turn right when you get to the Hilton Hotel roundabout, drive over the Tram crossing and take a right at the next roundabout. You will see the Long Stay Car park entrance on your left hand side.

I entered the post code into my sat nav and took me to a completely different place on the other side of the terminal.. someone helped me find a postcode closer to where I needed to be..
At this point it was 9pm and when I eventually got to the car park it was 9.15..my flight was at 10 pm..
I must admit I don’t use long stay car parks much but when I got there I had no idea what to do.. unfortunately there was no one around to ask and at this point I was starting to get a bit frustrated by it all.. tried to phone the contact number but no joy with that..
Decided to just leave the car and go which is probably what your supposed to do.. reception was closed and was totally unsure what to do..
I waited about 15 mins for a shuttle bus which was supposed to be available but now I was in a complete rush.. it was about 9.35 and had to run to the terminal which in the dark wasn’t that easy as my sense of direction isn’t great..
I also suffer from sciatica and the whole experience was not very enjoyable..
on my return I just walked to the car park as I wasn’t sure where to get the bus as I never got dropped of by one..
Had a bit of bother with that as again my sense of direction played a part and I approached it from another direction..
I did get there in the end but that was my fault really for walking.. Was not sure what was going to happen on leaving the car park but as I drove toward barrier it went straight up and along with the car being safe while I was away I increased the score to a 3..
