Stansted Official Short Stay Green Multi Storey is a covered on-airport car park around a 5–8 minute walk from the terminal. Park your own car, keep your keys and walk to check-in via the covered route, with no shuttle bus required. Stansted currently allows both pre-booking and Turn Up & Park in Green, subject to space.

Green sits between the premium Short Stay zones and Blue: it is closer than Blue, but usually cheaper than Orange, Red or Yellow. It is also the best Short Stay choice if you specifically want most of the parking and walking route to be undercover.

How does Green Multi Storey compare with Short Stay Blue?

Short Stay Blue is Stansted's cheapest Short Stay option but takes around 10–12 minutes to walk to the terminal. Green is closer at around 5–8 minutes and offers a covered route.

Choose Blue when keeping the price down matters most. Choose Green when the shorter, more sheltered walk is worth paying extra for.

How does Green Multi Storey compare with Premium Orange?

Short Stay Premium Orange is much closer to the terminal at around 1–4 minutes on foot, but it is pre-book only and normally more expensive. Green takes around 5–8 minutes and can also be used as Turn Up & Park.

Choose Orange when the shortest possible walk matters most. Choose Green when you want a balance of convenience, shelter and price.

How does Green Multi Storey compare with Mid Stay?

Stansted Official Mid Stay is generally better value for longer trips but requires a shuttle transfer of around seven minutes. Green lets you walk directly to the terminal and keep your keys.

Choose Green when avoiding the transfer bus is more important. Choose Mid Stay when price matters more and you are happy to use the shuttle.

Important things to know

Short Stay Green is open to both pre-booked and Turn Up & Park customers, but drive-up spaces are limited. The current turn-up tariff for Green and Blue is £70 per 24 hours, with each further 24-hour period charged at the same rate, so pre-booking is usually much cheaper. Entry and exit use ANPR for pre-booked customers, so the barrier should recognise your registration automatically. Stansted also lists Blue Badge parking for Short Stay, and Green is specifically one of the airport’s accessible Short Stay options.

Directions

From London:
Leave the M11 at Junction 8a. Follow the road for just over 1 mile and take the Stansted Airport exit, branch left. At Bassingbourn roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Thremhall Avenue and at Coopers End Roundabout take the third exit. Follow signs to the Short Stay Car Parks. Take the entrance signposted as Green Short Stay Car Park.

From Cambridge:
Leave the M11 at Junction 8. Take the A120 exit to Stansted Airport. At Priory Wood Roundabout take the 3rd exit, merge onto the A120 and branch left. Take the 2nd exit off Bassingbourn roundabout onto Thremhall Avenue. At Coopers End Roundabout take the third exit. Follow signs to the Short Stay Car Parks. Take the entrance signposted as Green Short Stay car park.

Arrival procedure

On arrival, when you reach the car park drive to barrier, but please don't push the ticket button or you may be charged again. Your number plate should be automatically recognised, but if not press the assistance button and speak to a member of the team. The barrier will lift and give you a ticket. Then drive through, park in any space, make a note of the zone and row, and then make your way to the terminal across the covered walkway which takes around 5-8 minutes for the average walker.

Return procedure

On return, please drive up to the exit barrier. If your number plate was recognised on the way in, the barrier will rise automatically on your way out. If you were issued a ticket on your arrival, insert it into the machine next to the barrier, which will raise to let you out.

Security

The car park has 24-hour CCTV, lighting, and is regularly patrolled by staff. It holds the Park Mark award.

Additional information

Most standard cars (without trailers/not commercial vehicles) will be accepted at the car park as long as they fit under the 2m barrier and fit in a standard-size parking bay (2.4m x 4.8m).

While pre-booking prices are cheaper than those you'd pay at the airport, the shortest time they can offer parking for is 24 hours. If you're parking at the car park for less time, it may be significantly cheaper to pay when you arrive. You won't be given a refund if you book online for less than 24 hours and find the price at the car park is less.

The car park offers a grace period of 6 hours at their discretion. If you park longer than this, you'll be charged the car park's standard rate of £45.50 (subject to change).
