Heathrow Purple Parking Park and Ride T5 is an off-airport key-handover service formerly known as Q-Park Flyaway and Purple Parking Business. Drive through the vehicle photo booth, stop in an arrivals lane and leave your keys at reception. Purple Parking parks the car in its secured compound while you take the free shuttle to Terminal 5.

This is primarily a value option for passengers who do not mind leaving their keys or using a transfer bus. The journey normally takes around 10–15 minutes, with buses operating every 20 minutes from 4am until 11.40pm.

Why choose Purple Parking T5?

  • Car parked for you: leave the vehicle in the arrivals area instead of searching for a space.
  • Terminal 5 transfers: free buses normally take around 10–15 minutes.
  • Vehicle photographs: the car passes through a photo booth before check-in.
  • Park Mark security: the site has CCTV, perimeter fencing and controlled entry and exit barriers.
  • Comfortable reception: the heated and air-conditioned waiting area has toilets, baby-changing facilities and vending machines.
  • Established operator: Purple Parking has operated at Heathrow under several previous product names.

How does Purple Parking compare with Maple Express Park & Ride T5?

Both are off-airport services where you leave your keys and the parking team stores the vehicle. Maple’s shuttle takes around four minutes and runs every 10–15 minutes, while Purple Parking normally takes 10–15 minutes and runs every 20 minutes.

Maple is also outside London’s ULEZ, making it the better choice for a non-compliant vehicle. Choose Purple Parking when it offers the lower live price; choose Maple when transfer speed or avoiding the ULEZ charge matters more.

How does Purple Parking compare with Official Heathrow Park & Ride T5?

With Purple Parking, you leave your keys and the team parks the car. Official Park & Ride is self-parking, so you choose a bay, keep your keys and take a shuttle running every 15 minutes.

Choose Purple Parking if you prefer someone else to find a space and it is cheaper for your dates. Choose the official car park if keeping your keys, on-airport storage and a straightforward ANPR arrival are more important.

How does standard Park & Ride compare with Purple Parking Plus T5?

Both packages use the same outward procedure: leave the car at the Purple Parking site and take the shuttle to Terminal 5. With the standard package, you also take the bus back after your flight. With Plus, a driver returns the vehicle to you at the airport.

Choose the standard package for the lowest price. Plus is useful when you want an economical park-and-ride departure but would rather avoid the return bus after a long flight.

Important things to know

The courtesy bus does not operate between 11.40pm and 4am, so a taxi is required during those hours. The car park is inside London’s ULEZ. Vehicles over 2.15 metres high, commercial vehicles, minibuses, pickups, vans, campervans and long-wheelbase vehicles are not accepted. You must provide a working vehicle key, deactivate ghost alarms and remove steering locks. Cars parked for more than 16 days may be transferred to another secured Purple Parking site.

DO NOT PARK HERE! This car park was very deceiving. The instructions given by the company claim that they are tried and tested, however when we put the postcode into our satnav, it was impossible to find the entrance of the car park. We drove around for over 45 minutes trying to find it and when we called the so-called 24 hour telephone line, there was NO one there! We had no choice but to park at the T5- Long Stay Carpark in the end which to be honest was easy to find and on reflection we should have done from the beginning. If you are looking for an actual car park, DO NOT PARK HERE! It was shockingly disappointing and we were refused a refund.

Everything went very smoothly, both on arrival and return. Checking the car in only took a couple of minutes and we were transferred to the terminal in no time. The car park itself is easy to find but traffic around the airport can be very heavy, especially in the morning rush hour, so remember to leave plenty of time to get there. All in all I'm very pleased with the service.

The best parking experience ever. Staff were polite and courteous at 4.45 AM ! ( as you don't see that very often ) Straightforward parking with no complications , well organised from start to finish. Will definitely use them again.

Left my vehicle there for 5 days, came back and picked the vehicle up at T5 to find a massive stain on the seat. Spoke to staff who advised me to contact their complaints department with photographs and after 5 emails still not had any response, do not leave your vehicle with them they cannot be trusted!
