APH Gatwick

Overview

APH Gatwick is an off-airport Park & Ride service serving both Gatwick North and South terminals. Rather than finding a space yourself, you leave your car and keys with the APH team, who park the vehicle while you take the complimentary shuttle to the airport.

It is a good middle ground between driving directly to the terminal and choosing a completely self-parked Park & Ride. You still need to factor in the transfer to and from Gatwick, but APH takes care of parking the car once you arrive.

Why choose APH Gatwick?

How does APH Gatwick compare with Airparks Self Park?

Both are off-airport Park & Ride options serving Gatwick, but the main difference is what happens to your car after you arrive. With APH, staff park the vehicle for you and retain the keys. Airparks Self Park lets you choose your own space and keep your keys.

Choose APH if you would rather hand the parking over to someone else. Airparks Self Park may suit you better if keeping your keys and leaving the car exactly where you parked it is more important.

How does APH Gatwick compare with Purple Parking?

Gatwick Purple Parking follows a very similar model: you leave your keys, staff park your vehicle and you take a shuttle to the terminal. The main differences are the price available for your dates and the transfer schedule, with APH generally publishing a more frequent shuttle service.

If both are available, there is no huge difference in the basic parking experience, so compare the total price, booking conditions and transfer arrangements before choosing.

How does APH Gatwick compare with Official Long Stay?

Gatwick Official Long Stay is located on airport property and lets you park the car yourself and keep your keys. APH is off airport and staff park the vehicle for you, but one APH location serves passengers using either terminal.

Official Long Stay may suit you better if keeping your keys and parking the vehicle yourself are priorities. APH is likely to appeal more if you prefer handing the car over and letting the parking team take care of the rest.

Directions

From the M23, leave at Junction 10 for East Grinstead. If travelling southbound, take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A264 Copthorne Way; if travelling northbound, take the third exit onto the A264. Continue straight over the next roundabout, taking the second exit. At the following roundabout take the fourth exit onto the A2220, signposted Maidenbower. Continue along the A2220 following signs for APH Parking Centre. Pass the Texaco petrol station — some satnavs may try to stop you here, so keep going. After approximately 0.25 miles, turn right into Crawley Garden Centre. Look for the APH entrance sign and follow the signs to the check-in area.

Transfer times

Courtesy coaches run every 10-15 minutes and the journey takes approx. 10 minutes to South Terminal and 12 minutes to North Terminal (depending on traffic conditions).

Arrival procedure

Drive up to the automated entry barrier, which should raise automatically, then follow the road markings to the arrival bays and park. Take your keys and flight details to reception, where APH staff will check you in and park your vehicle. Then board the shuttle bus to your terminal. Transfers run every 10–15 minutes, 24 hours a day, and take approximately 10–12 minutes.

Return procedure

After collecting your luggage, make your way to the APH shuttle stop outside the terminal. From South Terminal use Bus Stop 7 or 8 on the Ground Floor; from North Terminal use Bus Stop 6 on the Ground Floor. Take the shuttle back to APH, go to reception to collect your keys and your car will be ready for you to drive away.

Security

APH Gatwick is staffed 24 hours a day and has digital CCTV with more than 120 camera points, barrier-controlled entry and exit, security fencing and full floodlighting. During busy periods, vehicles may be moved to APH's secondary secure site.

Disabled facilities

Wheelchair-accessible shuttle buses are available. Staff can assist with loading and unloading luggage, and assistance can be requested using the help button at the entry barrier. Customers can also ask at check-in for their vehicle to be parked close to reception for easier access when they return.

Additional information

Vehicles must fit within a standard parking bay, have a maximum height of 2.4 metres and be driveable on a standard UK driving licence. Trailers are not accepted. Bikes, surfboards, windsurf boards and similarly large items cannot be carried on the transfer coaches, although skis and snowboards are accepted. If your vehicle has a ghost immobiliser, tell APH before travelling as staff may be unable to move it and a Self Park upgrade may be required. Allow sufficient time to check in and complete the transfer to the airport.

APH are unable to transport bikes, surf/windsurfing boards or items of a similar size on their transfer coaches. Snowboards/skis are acceptable.

Please be aware that satellite navigation systems are not guaranteed to take you directly to the car park, please use the directions provided below. We cannot be held responsible if you fail to locate the car park or are delayed.

APH Park & Ride EV Charging

Book your Gatwick Airport parking at APH Park & Ride with EV Charging and we’ll charge your car up for you when you arrive, leaving you free to head straight to the terminal for check-in. Your car must arrive at the car park with at least 5% vehicle charge and you must supply your own charging lead.

30kW: Best for smaller batteries or a partial charge for larger vehicles.

60kW: Best for larger batteries.

When you return from your travels, your vehicle will have been charged and be ready for your journey home.
