Stansted Official Short Stay Premium – Red Zone

Stansted Official Short Stay Premium Red is an official on-airport car park just 1–4 minutes' walk from the terminal. Park your own car, keep your keys and walk directly to check-in without waiting for a shuttle bus. Red is pre-book only and is designed for passengers who want one of the shortest possible routes between their car and the terminal.

Red is one of Stansted's three Premium Short Stay zones, alongside Orange and Yellow. All three are immediately beside the terminal, so the best choice will often come down to the live price available for your dates.

Why choose Stansted Official Short Stay Premium Red?

How does Premium Red compare with Premium Orange?

Short Stay Premium Orange is also around 1–4 minutes from the terminal and is pre-book only. Stansted describes Orange as its closest Short Stay car park, but the practical difference in walking time between Orange and Red is small.

Check the live prices for your dates rather than automatically paying more for Orange. Red can offer almost the same level of convenience.

How does Premium Red compare with Premium Yellow?

Short Stay Premium Yellow is another 1–4 minute, pre-book-only option and is particularly convenient for the Arrivals side of the terminal.

Red and Yellow offer a very similar parking experience, so compare the current price and location available for your dates.

How does Premium Red compare with Green Multi Storey?

Short Stay Green Multi Storey is around a 5–8 minute covered walk from the terminal. Green is further away but is usually cheaper and also allows Turn Up & Park when spaces are available.

Choose Red when getting to the terminal as quickly as possible matters most. Choose Green when you want a better balance between price and convenience.

Important things to know

Premium Red is pre-book only. Drive to the Red Zone barrier and your registration should normally be recognised automatically; park in any available space and make a note of your row and zone. If you require a dedicated Blue Badge bay, Stansted recommends Orange or Green Short Stay instead. Most standard vehicles are accepted provided they fit within a normal parking bay of approximately 2.4m × 4.8m; trailers and commercial vehicles are not accepted. Premium Short Stay bookings do not receive Stansted's normal six-hour overstay grace period, so additional parking after your booked exit time is charged at the applicable Short Stay turn-up tariff.

Directions

Leave the M11 at Junction 8. Follow the road for just over a mile and you'll come to a large motorway roundabout and will need to take the first exit immediately left onto Thremhall Avenue, towards Stansted Airport. Shortly after, you'll come to the Priory Wood Roundabout and will need to take the third exit, which will come out onto the A120. Take the first slip-road on the left and you should come out onto the Bassingbourn roundabout and should take the second exit continuing on Thremhall Avenue. You'll then come out at Coopers End roundabout and should take the third exit onto Terminal Road South. The Red Zone car park should be the first on your left.

Arrival procedure

On arrival, please go to the Red Zone car park and drive to the barrier. Your number plate should be automatically recognised, but if not press the assistance button and speak to a member of the team. Once the barrier has lifted, please drive through and park in any space. Make a note of the zone and row, then take the short walk to the terminal.

If you have any problems, please press the help button to talk to the car park’s team, but do not push the ticket button or you may be charged again.

Return procedure

On your return, please drive up to the exit barrier. If your number plate was recognised on the way in, the barrier will lift automatically on your way out. If you were issued a ticket on your arrival, please insert it into the machine next to the barrier, which will raise to let you out.

If you have any problems, please press the help button to talk to the car park’s team. Please do not insert your credit or debit card as you may be charged again.

Security

The car park has 24-hour CCTV, lighting, and is regularly patrolled by staff. It has been awarded the Park Mark award.

Disabled facilities

If you require Blue Badge bays, please book Orange or Green Short Stay car park.

Additional information

You park your own car and keep your keys.

The car park offers a grace period of 3 hours at their discretion; any longer than this and you’ll be charged the car park’s standard rate of £45.50 (subject to change).

While the online prices are lower than those you'd pay at the airport, the shortest time they can offer parking for is 24 hours. If you're parking at the car park for less time, it may be significantly cheaper to pay when you arrive. The provider can't offer you a refund if you book through them for less than 24 hours and find the price at the car park is less.

Most standard cars (without trailers/not commercial vehicles) will be accepted at the car park as long as they fit in a standard-size parking bay (2.4m x 4.8m).
