Park Smart is Liverpool Airport’s official budget self-parking option. Park in your own bay, keep your keys and walk to the terminal in around seven minutes. There is no shuttle, no key handover and no mystery tour of an off-site compound.

Previously called iPark and Cheap Parking, it is generally aimed at travellers who want official airport parking without paying extra to be right outside check-in. It is farther from the terminal than Long Stay and Skypark, so the reason to choose it should be the price—not the location.

Why choose Park Smart?

  • Official airport parking: located within Liverpool Airport’s grounds.
  • Keep your keys: your car remains in the bay you choose.
  • No shuttle: walk straight to the terminal in around seven minutes.
  • Budget option: usually priced below Liverpool Airport’s closer official car parks.
  • Simple entry: ANPR recognises the registration entered when booking.
  • 24-hour security: CCTV, barriers and security patrols protect the site.

How does Park Smart compare with Long Stay?

Both are official self-parking options where you keep your keys and walk to the terminal. Long Stay is closer at around five minutes, while Park Smart takes approximately seven minutes.

Park Smart makes sense when it is noticeably cheaper. If the prices are similar, Long Stay gives you the same straightforward parking experience with less luggage dragging. Two minutes is not a trek across the Andes, but there is little point walking farther for the same money.

How does Park Smart compare with Skypark?

Skypark is the closer option, despite being independently operated and off airport. It is around 500 metres from the terminal and is commonly quoted as a four-to-five-minute walk, compared with roughly seven minutes from Park Smart.

The trade-off is control. At Park Smart, you park the car yourself and keep your keys. At Skypark, you leave your key and staff park the vehicle for you; airport access charges may also apply to some rates. Choose Skypark for the shorter walk or a worthwhile saving. Choose Park Smart if official airport parking and keeping your keys matter more. Park Smart is farther away, but at least nobody else gets to adjust your seat.

Important things to know

Park Smart is an outdoor car park and the walking route is not covered. Current product information does not recommend it for passengers with reduced mobility, who should compare the closer Long Stay or Multi-Storey options. Make sure the correct registration is entered when booking and follow the supplied directions, as the general airport postcode may not take you directly to the entrance.

Directions

Please check your booking confirmation for details - we recommend you follow these directions as the postcode for the airport will take you to the wrong place.

Travelling from the North / North-East M6 southbound to junction 21A with M62.

- Please note that junction 21A is a split junction, and motorists should ensure they come off at the slip road signposted Liverpool.

- Follow M62 West to junction 6 onto the A5300 to the A561 and follow signs to the Airport, which is situated off Speke Hall Avenue.

Travelling from the South / East M6 northbound to junction 20 with M56.

- Follow M56 to junction 12 onto A557/A562 dual carriageway via Runcorn Bridge to merge with A561.

- Follow signs to the Airport, situated off Speke Hall Avenue.

Travelling from the Wirral / North Wales

- Passengers travelling from Wirral may find it more convenient at peak times to use the M53 and then the M56 (as instructions from the South / East) rather than a route through the City Centre of Liverpool via the Mersey Tunnels.

- Passengers travelling from North Wales should join the A55 to connect with the M56 eastbound, and then follow instructions from the East.

- Stay in the right lane as you enter the roundabout.

- At the roundabout take the 4th exit into the Park Smart car park.

- You will see the car park barriers directly in front of you.

Arrival procedure

- At the entrance barrier, ANPR will read your number plate and issue a ticket. Take the ticket and drive through. Please keep hold of the ticket as you'll need it to exit.

- If a ticket is not automatically produced, press the button and quote your booking reference. Don't press the ticket button as you will be charged again for parking.

- Drive to a bay, park up, keep your keys and your ticket, and walk to the terminal.

Return procedure

- Return to your car and drive to the exit barrier. Put your ticket into the barrier and it will raise to let you leave.

- If the barrier does not lift, please press the help button for assistance.

Security

The car park has been awarded the Park Mark safety award so you can rest assured your car is parked in a fenced car park with all-day security measures in place.

Disabled facilities

The car park isn't suitable for passengers with reduced mobility so please book a Long Stay or Multi-Storey space instead.

Additional information

Most cars are accepted, as long as they can fit into a standard-size parking bay (2.4m x 4.8m) and aren't commercial vehicles.

The car park offers a generous 4-hour grace period at their discretion. If you run over these 4 hours, you will be charged their day rate of an additional £15.

We have used this car park many times and never had a problem. The barrier opens automatically with ANPR, it is on the airport within 5 minutes walk of the terminal building and the automatic barrier lifts with ANPR on exiting. We got a really great deal for 9 nights stay this time too. Driving directions are very easy to follow if needed. Didn’t need to interact with staff so can’t comment on that kind of service but we were very pleased and will continue to use this service in future.
