Flying began at Blackpool airport back in 1909 and the airport was home to the first major air show in the UK welcoming over 200,000 spectators.
Blackpool airport continues to see large crowds through its doors today as it has developed into a bustling commuter travel link as well as a holiday gateway. In 2006 there was a major passenger terminal refurbishment and the airport can now handle two million passengers a year.
Parking at Blackpool Airport
As of January 2009 Blackpool Airport offers free car parking for all departing passengers
. Short and long stay car parks have been replaced with a Pay to Park car park for all drop off and pick up visitors. Free parking is available in either Passenger Car Park P1 or Passenger Car Park P2 for up to 15 days; after that, the parking will be charged £10 per day or part thereof. Departing passengers aged 16 years and over are required to purchase a £10 Airport Development Fee ticket before accessing the airside facilities.
