"Absolutely awful!! On arriving at the barrier I had to ask for assistance (my pre-booking via Essential Travel was not on the airport car park system) and I had to give them my full details. On leaving the car park, I had to ask for assistance again (my pre-booking via Essential Travel was not on the airport car park system) and was held up at the barrier for nearly 10 minutes while car park attendants came out in a van to see my documentation which I left with them. Lesson learned - book direct with the airport!!"

"As usual a very good sevice, but can you check the following for me. When arriving at the barrier to exit, the machine asked for full payment for the time parked despite having prepaid. I gave the prepaid reference to the attendant but he could not find this. Giving our lic. number he was able to give my name but only through previous bookings. We were let through, but can you check that the payment we made was received by yourselves and not somewhere else. Please advise."

"Everything went very smoothly with the parking. I wish I could say the same about the return flight. We were particularly pleased with the exit as once we put in our ticket the barrier went up and away we went, which is a great improvement on previous experiences."

"Waited 30 secs for bus on departure and one was waiting upon our return. 5 min bus journey each way. Must make sure you know where you parked the car - write the row on the back of your parking ticket. Cracking value for money."

"Although the location is fantastic it is really annoying when you come to leave and having prepaid the number plate recognition does not work. We had to press the assistance button and had to wait some time before it was answered and then give our booking ref number and numerous other details before the barrier was lifted. there was quite a queue behind us after that."

"Bad experience. Completed booking with Essential Travel and received confirmation by email but when arrived at parking lot, licence plate was not recognized and assistant I contacted cannot find my record. Told to take a ticket, park and sort out on return. Still cannot find record on return and had to wait for someone to show up in person to check my paper work before I was allowed to leave the lot. Good thing I had all paperwork on hand or not sure what would have happened."

Dear Brendan,
I had a problem leaving the Long Stay car park at Birmingham Airport, around 10.30pm last night. At the exit barrier, my ticket was not recognised. I called and spoke to someone through the intercom. I gave the reference number from my booking, and it was not on their system. I had to wait around 15 minutes for someone to come to the barrier, check the paperwork which I had printed out at the time of booking, and allow me to leave. They requested to keep the paperwork for their purposes.I'm not sure if this happened because I booked quite close to my departure date.

"This is a very large car park on the airport site.

The buses could be a little more frequent as they are often crowded at busy times, but overall it's OK."

"For God's sake, parking is parking ! What sort of feedback can there be to give ! I enetered, parke, left the car fo a week, collected it and left ! Though at exit clearly number plate recognition did not work as I had to press the buzzer."

"We found the car park easily and took the ticket from the machine on entry. We parked the car, picked up our cases and went to the bus stop nearby. It wasn't long before the curtesy bus arrived to take us the short trip to the airport. On return we caught a bus back right away, found our car and, on exit, the ticket actioned the barrier - perfect!! Couldn't have asked for a better service."

"Directions were excellent, through the entry barrier no problems, followed the signs to park my car had to park quite away from the exit but only waited a couple of minutes for the bus. On return bus was waiting outside straight on got to my stop, in car and away no problems."

"A completely hassle-free experience. The car park was extremely quick to enter and exit and we were able to walk to the airport terminal in a little over 5 minutes (although there is a bus too, for the terminally idle). Also good value for money."

"I always use Long Stay 1 (pre-booked) at least three times a year and this year was the first time I encountered a problem when exiting the carpark. I pressed for assistance but it took a while for the operator to answer as the tape message of Welcome to Birmingham Airport etc played numerous times and the queue behind me was growing and people getting impatient."

"Fantastic airport parking. Quick transfer. Polite and helpful bus drivers. We were quoted buses run every 15 mins, it was more like every 5 mins, which was great. The only downside was when we tried to drive out of the carpark, although there are plenty of signs, displaying Exit, they didnt seem to be very helpful, and the arrows on the tarmac were worn and faded away, so maybe a quick lick of paint would improve it 100%. Many thanks for a hassle free car parking experience."

"Booking on line was extremely easy. On arrival at the car park we were informed that we had been upgraded to the multi-storey car park adjacent to the departure terminal so no transfer bus to catch. We were a little anxious when we returned and anticipated a problem exiting the car park but we sailed through without a hitch. Excellent service throughout, would definately use again."

"Turn up at the airport, park the car, courtesy bus to terminal every 15 minutes; what could be more convenient or simpler?

True, you could save a few £ by using one of the off airport parks but having seen the TV programmes where cars are parked in unsafe places and driven at high speeds, I'd never hand over my keys"

"When we arrived at Long Stay 1 we were met by a very personable young man who explained that the car park was rather full so we had been upgraded to Medium/Short Stay 2. I am a Blue Badge holder and parked on ground level only having to wheel luggage out of the building and across two zebra crossings to the Airport. On our return we pressed the button at the exit, quoted our booking number and were on our way. Overall an excellent experience."
